LSU TIGERS UPDATE: SEC Announces League Fixtures, ‘The Tigers Learn Of Two New SEC Opponents.

Oklahoma and Texas joined the SEC this summer, giving the LSU men’s basketball team two new opponents for the 2024–25 campaign.

 

The SEC published an 18-game conference schedule for all 16 members of the expanded league on Monday. The Tigers found out that they will play Texas and visit Oklahoma in 2025.
According to the SEC office, playing dates, game hours, and TV information will be revealed later this summer.
The SEC tournament is scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, from March 12–16. League play starts on Saturday, January 4 and ends on Saturday, March 8.

This season, LSU will play teams on a home-and-home schedule after facing permanent opponents Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M in addition to two additional teams twice a year and the remaining eight schools once since 2013.

Every year, LSU will face one rotating opponent in addition to Arkansas and Texas A&M as its permanent opponents. Next season, the Tigers will play Ole Miss twice more.
LSU’s home opponents in 2025 will be Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Vanderbilt in addition to Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.

The Tigers’ remaining road games are against Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Oklahoma in addition to Arkansas, A&M, and Ole Miss.

The last time LSU and Texas faced each other was on December 16 in Houston’s Toyota Center. The Longhorns prevailed 96-85 after fending off a late Tigers rally in the second half.

In the overall series against Texas, LSU is ahead 20–12, including a 10–3 record at home in Baton Rouge. On December 19, 1998, the Longhorns played their final game in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers prevailed 63-61 in overtime.
In all, the Tigers’ record against Oklahoma is 2-3. There has only been one meeting between them at Norman, on March 17, 2004, during a first-round NIT game, which the Sooners won 70-61.

HOME: Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee

AWAY: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas A&M.
