The fact that Jim Harbaugh is the Chargers’ head coach still seems surreal to a lot of supporters. The Chargers finally made the big hire that ownership had never been willing to make in previous years, ending weeks of uncertainty.
Harbaugh was highly sought after since he has been successful everywhere he has coached in his career. The Chargers are entering a new era with the hiring of Harbaugh, and it suddenly appears feasible that the group may win a Super Bowl within the next five years.
After all, the Chargers possess two of the most crucial components of the puzzle: a talented quarterback and a successful head coach. The remainder of the squad usually comes into place once a team has those two elements firmly established.
Because Herbert is the starting quarterback, Harbaugh is aware that he is joining a unique environment in Los Angeles. In remarks to the media on Tuesday, the head coach of the Chargers acknowledged that this is the best position he has ever started as a coach.
Compared to Michigan and the 49ers, Jim Harbaugh has a head start with the Chargers.
With the Michigan Wolverines and San Francisco 49ers, Harbaugh achieved great success, earning a National Championship and making it to the Super Bowl in each team’s different roles. Along with raising Stanford and the University of San Diego to new heights, he has also had great success with those two institutions.
The Chargers position is obviously superior than the Stanford or USD positions. But to franky concede that, since he took it, the position with the Chargers is superior to that of the 49ers and Michigan? That might irritate some folks, though.
Ultimately, though, Harbaugh is correct. He has never taught a better quarterback than Herbert, and he never will. The mere fact that Harbaugh had that is a huge factor and the primary cause of his initial trip to Los Angeles.
With his superb coaching, Harbaugh eventually brought both Michigan and the 49ers to prominence, although they were not on an even playing field at first. Now that Harbaugh is truly getting a jump start on greatness, can you just picture what he can accomplish with the Chargers?
For the Chargers, the first Super Bowl in team history might be just around the corner. The Chargers will be in the hunt very soon, if Harbaugh’s history is any indication.
