Former Everton manager Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City’s financial rule violation is the “biggest so far”.
Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, claimed that a penalty of “six points” would be fair and urged the Premier League to be lenient.
Leicester were charged with violating the top-flight Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) last week (March 22).
The Foxes’ finances for the 2022-23 season have not yet been made public, but they are projected to indicate a loss of more than £105 million over the previous three full seasons.
Enzo Maresca’s side will not suffer a points deduction for the current season, however, because the punishment process was accelerated following the club’s relegation last year (2023).
