West Ham United: Lucas Paqueta speaks out as betting investigation update emerges

Lucas Paqueta has revealed that he was instructed not to speak about the alleged betting breaches after an investigation was opened into the West Ham star.

The Brazilian shared that he was told not to comment, but after seven months since the investigation was opened, he has explained that he remains fully cooperative with the investigation.

Most recently it was claimed that confidence is growing in Brazil that the investigators are struggling to link any incriminating evidence to the West Ham star.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet Ge Globo [20 March], Paqueta revealed: “I was instructed not to comment on this matter, but it has been seven months since this happened and I am cooperating to the fullest.”

Lucas Paqueta has been subject to plenty of rumours at West Ham
Despite the growing confidence in his home country, the Daily Mail had reported that the FA are still “offering no indication” of the outcome, despite the length of time that has passed since opening their checks into alleged betting inconsistencies.

In a revealing interview while on international, the Brazilian was also asked about the potential transfer to Manchester City this summer, although he refused to be drawn into rumours, explaining that his focus remains at the London Stadium.

In fact, it was reportedly the allegations which meant City and Pep Guardiola opted to turn away from the potential transfer last summer, with the manager reportedly keen on bringing him in before the rumours surfaced.
