Southampton keen on summer deal for ‘incredible’ 25-year old amid Premier League interest

Southampton battle Premier League sides for midfielder signing.

According to a report from The Sun, Southampton are now keen to sign Coventry City attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old is out of contract with his current club at the end of this season. As a result, he could be available on a free transfer in the summer.

It is thought that Southampton are therefore keen to bring O’Hare to St Mary’s, when he becomes available at that point.

The Saints had apparently been keen on him in January. At that point though, O’Hare is said to have been keen to see how things would play out with the Sky Blues.

For their part, Coventry City have offered the midfielder a new contract, and have not given up hope of keeping him.

That is despite the fact that the player himself has apparently made it clear he wants to move on in the summer.

However, Southampton are not alone in their pursuit of the Sky Blues star. Premier League sides Fulham and Everton are also credited with an interest in O’Hare.

This would be a really good piece of business for Southampton, if they were able to get it done.

Since returning from injury in October, O’Hare has been in excellent form for Coventry City.

The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.

That has already seen Coventry City manager Mark Robins describe O’Hare as ‘incredible’ this season.

As a result, Southampton would be getting an extremely useful addition to their squad if they managed to get this deal done.

Indeed, the level of interest there is in O’Hare from the Premier League, highlights what a coup it would be for the Saints to get this deal done.

However, that also means it is likely Southampton themselves will have to win promotion this season, if they are to have a chance of securing the signing of the midfielder.
