Lil Wayne Claims Lakers Treated Him Like Trash And Suggests It Was Because Of Recent AD Comments

Lil Wayne was in the arena on Thursday to watch the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Wizards 134-131 in overtime, a much-needed dub for Lebron the team.

After the game, Lil Wayne took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his frustrations with how he believes he was treated at the Lakers game. He also believes it was tied to recent comments about how the Lakers needed to trade Anthony Davis if they wanted to win another NBA Championship while Lebron’s still there.

Lil Wayne has been a Lakers fan for a long time. He’s the poster child for ‘bandwagon fan’ when it comes to professoonal sports, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Bruins, and Red Sox. He’s 41-years-old so you can do the math on when he became a fan of those teams…while growing up in New Orleans.

But Lil Wayne has supported the Lakers as long as he’s been famous and has been treated well in the past. That is, until last night when they treated him ‘like s—t’ according to him. And he believes it was tied to these comments about the Lakers needing to trade Anthony Davis.

On Undisputed Live back in November, Lil Wayne said the Lakers would not be a championship team with Anthony Davis in the lineup, adding that it’s “because he’s AD … he shows us them spurts every other other night — it used to be every night, then every other”.

Mr. Carter’s probably right. The Lakers probably did treat him differently because he was calling for the removal of one of the team’s stars from the lineup.

At the end of the day, the Lakers have more celebrity fans than any other NBA team in attendance and it’s not even close. Sure, it’s nice to show Lil Wayne on the jumbotron to fans every now and then but AD is out there grinding every game.

Davis is averaging 25+ points per game this season and has been on the court for 57 of the Lakers’ 61 games played. This is a classic case of ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’ as Lil Wayne can’t ask for hospitality from the Lakers while bashing one of the cornerstones of the squad, a guy they are paying almost $40 million this season.
